In this workshop with September artist in residence Ali Herrmann, participants will create a luminous encaustic painting with a clear wax medium. Combining colored papers and drawings, you will use collage techniques to layer into the wax, creating an ethereal, one-of-a-kind
work of art with lots of depth.
*Disclaimer: Heated wax emits an odor that may be bothersome to those with odor sensitivities.

Tim Jenison, a Texas based inventor, attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all art: How did 17th century Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer ("Girl with a Pearl Earring") manage to paint so photo-realistically —
150 years before the invention of photography? The epic research
project Jenison embarks on to test his theory is as extraordinary
as what he discovers.
Building a Ceramic Environment with Mandy Ranck
Saturdays, September 23 and 30, 12–3p.m.
$70 per person, all materials included
Join September/October artist in residence Mandy Ranck in a two-session workshop where you will build your own three-dimensional mixed media environment using fired clay figures and objects, and a painted backdrop. The first session will be for working with clay, second session is for applying paint and putting it all together. Sign up by Thursday, September 21.

In this workshop you will learn the techniques necessary to make
